Program: Program Description
PATHWAYS: Transformative Theological Education for a Changing World is a blended or hybrid model of distance learning, that is, largely but not exclusive online. Each year will begin and end with a face to face retreat. The online classes are designed flexibly to allow cohort groups to meet face-to-face should they desire.
PATHWAYS is designed to combine the best of the academy and of the church, to shape ministerial leaders not only by introducing them to theory, but to provide them formation in the supervised practice of ministry, and to guide them in theological reflection upon their practices. The facilitators are drawn from seminary faculty and ordained clergy who have excelled in local church ministry or particular specialized ministries. The program is designed to broaden the life experience of the participants through opportunities to engage Christians and people of other faiths through our Global Theological Education program to experience the United Church of Christ in its other settings, and to be exposed to the faculty and resources of a seminary campus.
While PATHWAYS originates in the Southeast Conference, we welcome conversations with other Conferences and Associations regarding potential partnerships.
